facebook sucks

What he said:

As some people know, I don't have a Facebook.  I don't feel today like dwelling on those reasons, but suffice to say, or write, it's been a mixed blessing.

It's made people stupid and lazy. By people, I mean activists and bloggers.

If you're just an average person, and you're just going about your everyday lives, this isn't about you, so you're excused.

This is a niche blog and it's target audience are activists and bloggers.

If you're an activist and you feel that your Facebook account is a necessary element to your advocacy, you're an idiot and moron.

Our equality is not contingent upon Facebook.

Stonewall didn't happen because Sylvia and the others in that bar were posting status updates on Facebook.  When people were outraged from the news Harvey Milk had been shot, no one needed Facebook to tell people to get of the closet and into the streets.  They did it automatically.  And for what it's worth, because some ActUp people have become their own worst enemy, Larry Kramer didn't need Facebook to remind us to fight back.

Just saying.

But for every bad activist, worst are bloggers.  Just saying, I'm a blogger.  Again, for the sake of clarity and full disclosure, I turned to blogging because I had been living a dysfunctional life and I had someone exploit that dysfunctional life for political gain. Blogging was, and still is, the only tool I have which to fight back against the prison industrial complex and religious and politically motivated bigotry and discrimination.

Having written that, I've never been among such horrible company in my life.

Except for maybe three people, they can't write.  They cut and paste.  They plagiarize. The kicker is after they steal content from another website they act like the cock of the walk on Facebook and Twitter.

How they can manage an audience is beyond me.

Again, I blame Facebook.

It's become a placebo.  The magic pill.

Facing social and or economic injustice? Go on Facebook.

No need for anything else.

I'd name names, but again, what's the point? It's not on Facebook and it's too long to comprehend because it's not on Twitter and no one knows how to convey a thought or write any more.
