it's a mad, mad, mad, mad queer world

As per Wikipedia:

Dyke March is a mostly lesbian-led and inclusive gathering and protest march much like the original gay pride parades and marches. They usually occur the Friday or Saturday before LGBT pride parades and larger metropolitan areas have related events (parties, benefits, dances) both before and after the event to further develop community often targeting specific community segments (older women, bar events, arts, parenting groups, etc.) The purpose of a Dyke March is to increase lesbian visibility and activism and they have grown to be more inclusive of all women-loving-women regardless of labels as well as bisexuals, intersex and transgender persons.

They may have to change the name next year.

According to this blog, Cathy Brennan, an LGBT activist and lawyer was attacked at the NYC Dyke March by a group of ten transwomen and genderqueers, allegedly because Cathy has been fostering hatred toward transwomen.

But wait it gets better: One of the people who led the attack turned out to be Ida Hammer, one of the co-organizers of the NYC Dyke March.
What makes this situation even more disturbing, is that Hammer is also a prominent transactivist. Hammer recently conducted a workshop at the Philadelphia Trans Health Conference. It becomes even more disturbing when the focus of Hammer’s transactivism is as an organiser of The Trans Women’s Anti-Violence Project. From the introduction:

So go figure:  A bunch of transwomen who claim to be oppressed, and they're the ones doing the oppressing. And at a protest march mean to increase visibility and inclusivity.

In anticipation of having someone have a tantrum at my expense, I'm a blogger, this is a blog, and I'm writing about what another blogger wrote on their blog.

I would expect though, whoever it is that actually runs NYC Dyke March to denounce what happened.
